6 Reasons Why You Absolutely Need a Wedding Album

Are Wedding Album’s Worth Investing In?

I’m going to be honest with you: wedding albums are expensive. There, I admit it. You probably have already spent tremendous amounts of money on every part of the wedding day itself, so it’s totally understandable to wonder how can another expense like this be justified after the big day.

While professional quality photo books may be expensive, here are a few reasons why they are worth the investment 20-40 years from now!

1. Wedding Albums Let You Hold Your Memories

Now I know what you’re thinking. You may have all of the digital images stored on your computer, and maybe a dozen or so in your phone’s camera roll, but is that really the best way to truly appreciate your wedding photos? While we live in a time where just about everything we absorb is through our laptops and phones, your wedding photos deserve far more than just living in the cloud.

Seeing and holding your memories in a photo book just hits differently than seeing them on a screen. When you post photos online for others to see, you get that instant gratification of seeing all of the likes pouring in, and when it’s all done, you forget about it until that yearly anniversary notification pops up to remind you. With a wedding album sitting on top of your living room’s coffee table. You get the chance to revisit those moments again and again with your loved one while cuddling on the couch. Isn’t that worth investing in?

2. Good Wedding Albums Tell A Story

Have you ever told a story with your family and friends and someone claims that the other got the timeline of the events wrong? Well, maybe the answer to everyone’s questions will be in the wedding album!

When photo books are designed, they are typically put in chronological order so couples can relive the day as it actually happened. From those intimate moments spent getting ready to the time that you cried seeing your fiance during the first look, or at the ceremony, you get to be reminded of every moment as you flip through each page. Having that one large print of your favorite portrait is quite beautiful, I would want one myself, but it doesn’t take you back to every timeless moment of the wedding day in the same way an album will.

3. How We Store Memories Will Always Be Changing

Where are your parent’s wedding photos stored on? DVDs, VHS, or God-forbid, floppy disks? Whatever they are saved on, isn’t it crazy that our methods for storing images today are drastically different than they were 15 to 30 years ago?

While storage technology will change through the decades, you know what will never change? Your wedding album! Even if your computer is stolen, or if your hard drive crashes, you will still have the key highlights of your wedding day preserved. Wouldn’t you be so thankful for that? Technology comes and goes, but a beautiful photo album never becomes irrelevant.

4. Wedding Albums Are Gifts for the Next Generation

I remember sharing a wedding album with a bride who had their little niece with them. As the bride flipped through the pages, her niece pointed at photos and would exclaim, “Grandma”, or “That’s my mama”, and so on!

It was at that moment that I realized the true value of a wedding album. This isn’t just for the bride and groom, it’s for your children, and the generations to come. While your future great-great-great grandchildren may not know much about you, this book will give them some insight into not just their heritage, but a testament to how you truly loved one another. That alone is worth investing in!

5. Reward Yourself After Months of Planning

Whenever I do my video consultations with my clients, I always ask them how their wedding plans are going. Each couple always has a different answer, but no matter what stage they were at when we first met, it’s always amazing to see their hard work on full display come wedding day!

You’ve spent many long nights planning for your dream wedding, now that it’s passed, why not celebrate your hard work in print? Yes, you may have posted the photos online, but do you honestly think that Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok will still be around after 20-years?

Most couples who don’t choose printing through their photographer, almost never print their wedding day photos! What normally happens is that once you return from the honeymoon, real-married-life starts and you can quickly lose track of time to go out and print your own book. And, if couples do find the time, they go somewhere with cheap print quality like Costco, or Walgreens. Please do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a photo book the right way!

6. It Provides Great Conversation with Your Loved Ones

My father and mother were married on September 4th, 1982. Their wedding album is still the talk of their household whenever family and friends pay a visit. The guests see the big 12x12 leather-bound photo book on the coffee table and are immediately immersed in the world of the 80s. After hearing each “wow” with every flip of the page my parents become more than happy to answer any questions that we may have, and trust me, we have a lot! Before you know it, we’ve already spent an hour learning about their wedding day, and everything leading up to it!

What better way to bond with your family and friends than with a photo album? The conversations derived from this book produce so much wisdom, laughter, and even more family memories to cherish.

And that’s something worth investing in.
